Former Labour Party presidential flagbearer, Peter Obi, has appealed to Nigerians to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). He stressed that the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is the most effective tool for citizens to drive change and build a new Nigeria.
Writing on his X handle, Obi described the PVC as “the voice of the voiceless, the shield of the weak, and the weapon of the poor against injustice and failed leadership.” He emphasized that the fate of the nation depends on the choices Nigerians make at the ballot box.
Obi also cautioned against vote selling, warning that anyone who sells their vote is mortgaging their future and that of their children. He accused politicians who buy votes of doing so only to gain access to public resources for looting, insisting such people are “criminals in disguise, not true leaders.”
He urged Nigerians to vote wisely, choosing leaders who show competence, character, capacity, and compassion, while resisting intimidation and deceit during elections.
“Our democracy is fragile,” Obi warned. “Every eligible citizen must register, collect, and guard their PVC. When it matters most, use it wisely. Nigeria belongs to the people, not to those who sell our future for selfish interests.”
He reaffirmed his belief that a “New Nigeria is possible” if citizens take ownership of the change they seek.
